What makes this different from a group tour?
A group tour runs to a fixed schedule set months ago, with forty people who all want different things. A private journey starts from your dates, your interests and your energy level. If you want three hours at Karnak instead of ninety minutes, you take three hours.
Is a private tour much more expensive?
It is more than a large-group coach tour and considerably less than the luxury operators charging $10,000 upward. Our 8-day Classic Egypt starts at $2,820 per person from October to April ($2,450 May to September), and a quote is free and itemized so you can see exactly where the money goes.
How far ahead should we book?
Two to three months gives the most flexibility on Nile cruise cabins and the better hotels, particularly November to February. We can move faster when needed.
Who will actually be guiding us?
A licensed Egyptologist — someone who can read the walls, not a general escort. On most itineraries you keep the same guide throughout, so they learn your pace.
Is Egypt safe for American visitors?
The tourist corridor — Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and the Red Sea — receives millions of international visitors a year and has a visible security presence. Conditions vary by region and the US State Department publishes current guidance worth reading. We will give you a straight answer about anywhere you are considering, including when the answer is no.
